Thats what we did back home with strays, because the pound would never come get them. When they killed one of my sisters cats it was time to take em out.

on our ranch, yeah, just peppering them with a shotgun from a good distance is a good deterrent. however, that is for more important things than a dog barking.

Out where I am, I give the strays the time it takes me to go into the house to get my gun to vamoose. I have no compunction or hesitation about TKing some stray. My kids safety is > ANY dogs life. Smile

In Moore my Dad went and talked to our neighbor and ask him if it was ok if he shot his dog with a BB gun when it started to bark. He says it was fine with him, if he could get a clean shot he would do it himself. But we were neighbors with these people for like 15 years and they where really good friends. You ever seen a weenie dog shot with a BB gun? Rather funny but will make them STFU.
