I still remember the first time playing the beta of 1942, at QuakeCon. Purely epic gaming that quickly consumed the entire LAN. The alpha single player had been released weeks earlier but was buggy and not very fun. The beta released on Friday of the LAN but our net connection was far too slow to download it. We found a guy with a local cable modem and sent him home with an external hard drive. A few hours later, history...

Did you drive a ship? I wish they hadn't gotten rid of that feature. Are the MP servers filling up with a lot of players? Wouldn't be fun without them.

You can drive ships, some dumb ass drove the battle ship up on the beach in Iwo lol.

I know you can drive ships, I was just curious if you did it again. My first map was the same, battleship grounded. Second map I couldn't get a good spotter to help me hit anything. The controls feel horrible and it doesn't support widescreen in my native resolution. It keeps forgetting my inverted mouse settings and generally I hated the 20 minutes I spent in game. I think it could be more fun with tweaked configs and getting on a server that didn't put me at a 45 second respawn time, but in general I would rather spend my time elsewhere.

Agreed. It is like they released the console version lol.
