So I finally played Portal........

meh........


Honestly, up until the last map I thought I was still in the training levels. It was definitely an interesting concept and I had to think about some of the obstacles.





Commence the hate........

The new one's a lot longer. Which, given they wanted the price of a full game, is a good thing. As you'll recall, the original wasn't a standalone $50 game. It came with the entire contents of "The Orange Box" @ the $50=5 games price on release day. Furthermore, you didn't pay a dime for it. You got it from me via gift pass.

As I said, the new one is significantly longer, but it too keeps throwing new concepts at you to the point I've played it so far. I just encountered my first funnel last night, and I'm about seven hours into my first play-through of single player. And so far it's been well worth what I paid for it, $45. I'd detail where in the game I'm at, but I'm worried I'll give out some spoilers for the story. ...and I know others, like myself, are still in their first play-through.

Suffice to say, I like the second one as well. Looking forward to my first taste of co-op tomorrow evening.

Finished the Portal 2 Co-op earlier tonight and it was fucking amazing. Single player is more of the same which is great, but the real deal is the co-op.

They're releasing editing tools for it here sometime in the near future as well. If anyone else messed with the editing tools for Alien Swarm, then you'll know how well this pleases me.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the gift And no, I didn't know that it wasn't a full stand alone game. I think if I had paid ~$50 for it I'd be rather disappointed. I still might give Portal 2 a try, especially if its longer, it just isn't a priority for me right now

I understand that. Just saying, give it credit for what it was, which is more of a proof of concept game. If you're at Goahed's this evening, you'll get a chance to see the second one in use. Co-op is only two at a time, but should be entertaining to watch as much as play.

man that would be a brain workout of a deathmatch.....

I imagine balance would be crazy hard but if anyone could do it...it would be Valve.
