Any ricer tuners in OKC?  Reply with quote

I'm leaning heavily on throwing a Zage turbo kit on my Yaris once it's factory warranty runs out in a few months and was wondering if there are any trustworthy tuners in OKC I could take it to after I install it. Would be nice to know what I needed to get (ie an FIC, emanage, or whatever) to tune it up nice. Any good place with a dyno round here?

Not going to go crazy with the boost, maybe 8 psi max which would take my 90 whp yaris up to around 180 whp. Any more boost than that and I'd need to redo the whole engine. (Some people run 12psi on stock engine parts but thats pretty risky)

Hit the yellowpages, get some quotes, and go with your gut on which one isn't going to screw you.

Just don't throw some shitty loud exhaust on it please! I really hate maxwell house mufflers. Turbo and/or cold air intake are perfectly reasonable.

That or get rid of it and get a proper man-car...

That said, if my car was 90 whp, I'd want 180 whp.

Shin, you bought it to be able to afford to get places (I assume), not to race it around. Same reason I bought my xB. There's no shame in it. But there is shame in bastardizing it into something it was never meant to be. ...So I guess I'm agreeing with Vince, but putting it into words. Neutral

On second thought, Shin if you have money to throw around, get/build yourself a gaming rig and game with us next month. Your presence has been missed.

I've only worked with 2 "tuner" shops in town, Alternative on Reno and another place just up Council near Reno. Neither of them were bad but I wouldn't openly recommend either of them. Eurosport in Norman might be an option but they would be $$.

These little turbo'ed up ricers that run around are kind of a pain in my ass and my car runs just fine from A to B. Its more of just something to do. I'm bored, and in my boredom I've been reading a lot about my car. My car is great, but it seems like it just needs a tiny bit more horsepower. It originally started out as something like what if I add a CAI, and axelback exhaust. But that would net me maybe MAYBE 5 hp pn the yaris. From doing a lot of research on the subject, bolt on mods just dont do anything for the yaris and its terminatoresque "learning ecu" and variable valve timing. You could spend a grand on a new header back exhaust and a cold air induction system and a piggyback fuel controller and still only net yourself 10-15 hps. Slap a $1,800 turbo kit on it and you can go on up to as high as you want to and blow out your engine if you want to. heh.

For the most part I completely agree on the facepalm comments. Like I said, all these little fart pipe tuned up ricers that run around here really tick me off sometimes. But its something to do and something to throw a lot of money I don't have at. Smile

Your car is going to blow up as you pull into a parking lot...

And some guy standing 10 feet away is going to think he slipped an SBD fart.

The good thing is that my engine only costs $350 shipped. heh (seriously, there's a "clean runner" online with 55k miles on it for $350 shipped, lol)
