Graphics Cards
OK... Goahed, I still "plan" on buying your 9700 Pro when the time comes... however... I obtained a 9000 Pro for FREE the other day. I really haven't kept up with vid cards like I should. Is that an ok card? It's seems ok. What is the NEXT BIG THING? Not that I'll even dish out the cash needed for it, I just buy the left overs when the next big things hit the market. Hmm...

ATI all the way. Unless you get a good deal on a Geforce (79.99 at CC, BB, and CUSA.) and get a 128mb 8x TI card. _________________ werd.

256 MB RAM on a Video Card... that's more RAM than some people have for their WHOLE system. Boy that's cool. I wonder how high the RAM will get in the future?? 1G 1.5G 2G??? 3G???? Hmm.... could be interesting.

Just FYI:
my GeForceFX with still kinda new-ish drivers runs Doom 3 better than the 9700Pro with finally stable drivers (the catalyst 3.2 that took them over 6 months to finally come up with).
Granted the Doom3 is very alpha code, but still.... and the NV35 (successor to the GeForceFX) is coming out this spring per a little birdie inside nVidia. Spring ends in june... so then or before. the NV35 = GeforceFX that only takes up one slot, runs cooler, faster and quieter.
Give nVidia a month or 2 on the drivers.... I bet this card will get even faster... and then the next chip will come out with a good driver base to support it that has already had some time to be optimized..

I like nVidia, but it seems like I always buy an ATi. Usually, its because an ATi card was insanely cheap in some hot deal that couldnt be passed up. My last nVidia card was a GF4 ti4200 OC'd to over 4800 specs. Since then I've had 2 9600 pros, 2 9800SE's, and my current card is an X800XT PE. _________________ For with what measure you measure it will be measured to you.
