Hey, does anyone have any clue as to how to place an instance of Notepad in your active desktop?

not at this time but that's a damn fine idea.

could someone write a php page that was just a big text block with the ability to save in a .txt file?

I found something, actually.

Code

<html>
<head>
<title>Active Desktop: Notepad</title>

<script language="VBSCRIPT">
<!--

Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Const ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2, ForAppending = 3

Sub setFile (filename)
Set a = fs.CreateTextFile(filename, true)
a.Write(Document.notes.qnotes.value)
a.Close
End Sub

Sub loadFile (filename)
if fs.FileExists(filename) then
Set a = fs.OpenTextFile(filename,ForReading)
Document.notes.qnotes.value = a.ReadAll()
a.Close
else
Document.notes.qnotes.value = "Unsolved Media"
end if
End Sub
-->
</script>

</head>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" onLoad="loadFile('d:\\windows\\quicknotes.txt');">

<form name="notes">
<textarea name="qnotes" cols="80" rows="20" wrap="PHYSICAL"></textarea>
<a onClick="setFile('c:\\windows\\quicknotes.txt');" href="java script:window.close();">Save</a>
</form>

</body>
</html>

save that to an html file
create a blank txt file in c:\windows called quicknotes.txt
then just load up the html file on active desktop

i have 2 of them up, a google search, a calendar, and my work website. i usually jot a lot of notes while i'm telemarketing mortgages so i figure why not just do it in notepad? this keeps me from having 4 windows open, and they're already tiled on my desktop and everything
