Most people don't get the flu. They associate the symptoms of a common cold with the flu. They are similar, but not the same. The flu can kill you. If you don't get the flu shot you have a much higher chance of getting the real flu and dieing. Most people will have some symptoms after a flu shot, but it's mostly in their head. And yes, the flu does change a bit every year, but the vacc is usually produced 3 weeks after a new strain is found.

Me personnally, I'd rather put up with the symptoms for 3-4 days than put up with them for 2-3 weeks and possibly die.
