WTB: Drum throne

I find myself in need of an adjustable drum throne (stool) and went to guitar center this last weekend and saw the $50+ prices for new ones. I was thinking more like around $20. If anyone has one or knows where to get one that's cheaper than buying one at guitar center please post about it.

OR, anyone have any ideas where to get a small round padded stool that is adjustable in height for not a lot of dough, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "drum throne" but function similarly and padded for my flat bony butt.

Check craigslist and buy one of the cheap cheap cheap thrones from the ghetto beginner's kits and then upgrade the padding. I did it for my own as well as a few friends for their backup thrones and it works well although they aren't the sturdiest things ever.

Thanks Nik for the ideas. I'd already looked at Craigslist and found no thrones there but will keep an eye out for one.

Well the idea behind the 2x4 is to use it for height adjustment in case the bucket is too short, just cut it down to a couple 2 foot lengths and stack as necessary.

I ended up shelling out the $43.95 after tax for one from guitar center. The same throne is $30+$5 shipping from amazon so I thought I would toss a little money locally and some tax to our struggling economy.

Its not the softest cushion but it holds up well for long periods of playing time. Definitely a lot better than the metal stool I was sitting on.

Nope, just a fun game. I can't keep a tempo in my head enough to be a drummer. I'm not sure if that comes with practice but I can play some of the songs on expert and that's hitting every drum note in the songs (and we're talking 16th and 32nd notes too). Only thing missing is the high-hat pedal.
