I know I can compress it after I create the image, but can I compress it with gzip inline?
Something like:
dd if=/dev/sda of=| tar cfz /drive_images/imagename.dd.img conv=noerror,sync
Obviously that doesn't work for many reasons, but still. You get the idea. I'm positive this is possible, I just don't know how. _________________ Blargle Flarg Bergah Merg

Maybe I could write a script or something to dd a set number of blocks, compress that file into the appropriate folder while dd continues on with the next set of blocks? I'm gonna work on that if someone doesn't know something better. _________________ Blargle Flarg Bergah Merg
