So I was watching weird science.....  Reply with quote

thats right the 1985 classic "Weird Science" and saw this.....

Does the poster look familiar to anyone? Very Happy It's kind of interesting to see how computers were regarded in the film (And yeah I know exaggerated alot). But just thinking how far things have changed in 26 years.

Brules, as you've not been to a LAN in some time (his location changed for those not in the know), you should know that our currently location @ Meridian Data (Off MacArthur, löl) has that wave poster as part of it's decor. *shrug*

I liked 3 of them:
1. Ferris Buelller's Day Off
2. Gremlins
3. War Games
...And I either hate or am not a fan of the rest. My feelings for most is that they are Naive, childish, and overly optimistic. And you can disagree with me, but you're not going to convince me to like them or ever watch most of the films on your list ever again.

I admit I'm biased, and that I cannot identify with a large number of them in any way. There's a reason you guys call me a sandy bitch. I'm a bitter old man, and I have been for some time. I'm only optimistic, ever, because it's a direction I choose. I admit that pessimism rarely accomplishes anything, or at least not anything good and worthwhile.

But I think I know why this is... why I cannot identify with the general place these come from. I don't remember the vast majority of my teenage years or childhood years fondly. All I remember of my childhood up to age 16 was being picked on and being sick. More than half that asthma related, struggling to breathe. 16 to about 24 things improved a good bit. 24 and on my health started declining, and then as a result of my declining health, my life started spiraling down too. And here I am going to be thirty this year, and I'm a good bit bitter about not being able to enjoy even a third of it.

So some, probably the vast majority, of my hate is simply because it reminds me of childhood. And mine sucked. Sorry. Sad

How can you have a list of 80's movies and forget...

Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Tron
Aliens
Raiders of the Lost Ark

I know these break a little from the 'cult' theme your list had but you at the time most of those weren't considered to be cult favorites either.
