LAN questions i guess  Reply with quote

I haven't attended a LAN in years, so is it ok if i play counter-strike most of my time there?? It's really the only game ive ever played and besides i have a very low-end computer. I'm sure yall would get a good laugh at it haha

Lately we play Battlefield 3. You'll probably be pretty lonely if you place CS the entire time.

I'm not going to tell you not to come, its not my place to do that. However, we almost filled up the LAN last month and the roster is looking like we might have another pretty full month for Feb. If you come and take a seat that a potential BF3 player would have filled, you are setting yourself up for some heckling.

What are your PC specs? BF3 requires some power but nothing more than an entry level PC made in the last 6 months to a year couldn't provide. If you are able to upgrade a component or 2, get BF3, I can guarantee you will never want to go back to CS.

Not jumped... you'll just be bored. Sad
We could break out some Q3, or something similar, if you'd like. But they're right that BF3 will be the primary game played. It's not all that will be played, but it will definitely be first seat. And far as Counterstrike goes, we might play a bit of Global Offensive when it comes out.

Counterstrike left a bad taste for a good number of us when it was big. Course we're talking about a decade ago. And when we started having an eighteen and older rule. So yeah, it was mostly the rude/inconsiderate Children that would only play CS (and nothing else). And their parents that would complain when you dropped an F-bomb here or there. So it was never really the game itself. Still I can't imagine being persuaded to install it or it's Source-engine predecessor. When it was big, I was still playing Tribes. *shrug*

No, Drix is just sugar coating it........

You will get beat with an old IBM style keyboard, chocked with a mouse cord (style that has a mouse ball in it), hit over the head with a large, all steel packard bell case, have your pointing finger sawed off with a P4 Slocket and other sundry things for playing a game that is older than some LAN attendees.

Don't unplug your keyboard on accident, or you'll have to reboot for it to work again...

Yanking and plugging in someone's keyboard to get back at them for dominating you in game has never been the same since USB.

Except when you pull someone's PS2 keyboard plug and they plug it back in and fry their motherboard.

Not so funny then.

The laser mice also don't shine across the room like the old opticals did. No more temporarily blinding people.
